INYOKERN, Kern County — October 31, 2026. Halloween took on an aviation theme at Inyokern Airport on Saturday as the community gathered for Halloween in the Hangar. The advertised family event ran from 2 to 6 p.m., bringing costumes and seasonal activities into a setting closely tied to the Indian Wells Valley’s flying history.

A community Halloween celebration at the airport

The event announcement described trunk-or-treating, bounce houses, popcorn and other family-friendly Halloween activities at the airport’s historic hangar. The airport serves Inyokern and nearby Ridgecrest, making this a gathering with interest across the surrounding desert communities.

Inyokern has an aviation story that goes beyond the holiday. The airport and its surroundings have long been associated with desert flying and experimental aviation. A locally relevant example is electric-aircraft pioneer Chip Yates, whose high-speed electric flight at Inyokern in 2012 drew attention to the area’s role in aviation innovation. That history provides context for the setting; it does not mean the record flight was repeated at the Halloween celebration.

Why local coverage matters

Community events at small airports bring together residents who may otherwise see the facility only from the highway. They also offer a chance to introduce younger visitors to aviation and the people who keep regional airports active. Inyokern News will continue covering community gatherings, local history and events across the Indian Wells Valley.

Editorial note: Event hours and advertised activities are based on the event information shared with California58. The accompanying video and Instagram post are provided as original media references; this report does not independently assert attendance figures or identify individual participants.
