INYOKERN AREA — November 1, 2026. Families from the Indian Wells Valley had an inexpensive nearby Halloween option in Ridgecrest on October 31: the Ghost Ship Haunted Harbor at the local veterans’ organization, VFW Ship 4084.

The event was held at 117 N. Alvord Street, roughly nine miles in a straight line from Inyokern’s community center. Unlike a long trip to a major Southern California theme park, this was a hometown production shaped by local volunteers and a regional theater group. The Halloween-night flyer advertised 7 p.m. through midnight; according to eyewitness reporting, crowds started gathering around 7:30 p.m.

Why this mattered to nearby communities

The show offered three levels of fright and attracted family groups, including young children accompanied by adults. After the scares, visitors could vote for a favorite pumpkin. Final results of that contest had not been confirmed as of November 1. Event organizers said the $5 tour admission benefited veterans’ programs and the building fund.

California58 has published a full on-the-ground account by editor Vitaly Ataev Troshin, including his discussion with a bartender, an explanation of how VFW Ship 4084 operates, the organization’s history, the crowd’s reaction and the still-unconfirmed pumpkin-contest results.
